Hymenoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to restore the hymen in women. The hymen is a ring of soft tissue partially absorbed in the center of the vagina. It forms a passage for menstrual blood to exit the body.

Procedure

Hymenoplasty, also known as hymen restoration surgery, is performed on an outpatient basis under general or local anaesthesia. This is a low risk procedure with limited chances of complication.

Getting back to normal

This surgery requires very little down time. All sutures used in Hymenoplasty are eventually absorbed by the body. After Hymenoplasty, most women experience initial mild discomfort which can easily be controlled with oral medication.
