Earlobe repair surgery restores the split and lets you wear earrings again. Piercing the ears can lead to stretching, tearing, and keloid scarring of the earlobes.
Ideal Candidate
Individuals with torn earlobes or elongated piercing tracts may benefit from this procedure.
Procedure
Earlobe repair is a simple Plastic Surgery procedure. The surgeon trims the healed skin on the inside of the torn earlobe to allow it to heal back together. Skin edges are sutured together to close the cut. Fine stitches are used so that the suture marks are not visible.
Getting Back to Normal
The sutures are removed after 5-7 days. Ear piercings in or above the scar are not recommended. The scar is weaker than the surrounding tissue, so the possibility of a tear is higher.
